Dear Lumberjack Families and Community:

Welcome to the 2022-23 school year! I hope that this communication finds you well and that you are having a wonderful summer. I am humbled and honored to be serving as the Principal of Wausau East High School and I am excited to welcome our new and our returning Lumberjacks back to school.

Wausau East High School is an amazing school that works with and for amazing students and families. Our community is vibrant and diverse. To meet the needs of our students, we have an exceptionally talented staff of education professionals that have been planning and preparing for the upcoming school year. With our core values of respect, integrity, compassion, and excellence to guide us, we are ready to begin a year that will be filled with new friendships and positive relationships, memories that will last a lifetime, and opportunities to learn and grow.

Lumberjacks, as you prepare for the return to school by considering which color notebooks and binders to bring, or which is better, pen or pencil; I hope you will take some time to also consider the mindset you bring to school. Our school is a place of unlimited learning opportunities. From our strong core academic departments to our outstanding career and technical training to our clubs, activities, and sports Wausau East High School offers learning opportunities that will shape your future and help you become anything you wish to become. Take advantage of all that is offered: challenge yourself to fully experience all that Wausau East has to offer. Take an upper level class that asks you to think outside the box or an elective to learn a new skill. Participate in a club, activity, or a sport that you have always wanted to try. We need every Lumberjack to be engaged and involved!

Lumberjack families, we also need you to be engaged and involved. Continue to support your children, our students by asking about their course work and the day they had at school. Feel free to communicate with teachers and staff members about the progress your child is making within our classes and programs. Education is a partnership between students, families, and education professionals and we are excited to partner with you to achieve success for our students. Join us on our beautiful campus for our many events. Our sports teams compete regularly in both conference and non-conference competitions, our academic programs offer a variety of opportunities such as CAFE and Rube Goldberg night, and our music and drama departments have a variety of performances open to the public. These events and more can be found on our school website and calendar at

If I can ever be of assistance to you, or if you have questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to me directly via email or via phone (715) 261-0672.

Warmest regards,
Deb Foster
