Dear Lumberjack Families, Students, and East Community,

As the summer season draws to a close, a new school year unfolds at Wausau East High School. On behalf of the entire East faculty and staff, we extend a warm welcome back to our returning Lumberjacks and a heartfelt greeting to our incoming freshmen and new students to the 2024-2025 school year. We are eager to embark on this academic journey together, fostering a positive learning environment that drives intellectual curiosity and personal growth through Respect, Integrity, Compassion, and Excellence.

Wausau East is known for our rich history and traditions. We will continue to drive our excellence in education by empowering all students to be a part of the Lumberjack community through academics, activities, clubs, and athletics. There are so many different opportunities to be a part of the flourishing culture that is Wausau East High School. Our rich diversity, and expectation for success, will continue to drive our positive culture! Lumberjack Pride is heard all throughout our school and we are very proud of who we are. WE are proud to be Lumberjacks!

There are a few changes I would like to highlight as we enter the new school year. This year we added time to our bell schedule. Each school day will run 7:41 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. We also continue to enhance our safe and supportive school environment. One enhancement will be our student parking availability and locations. All students who hold a valid driver's license have the option to purchase a parking pass, and when purchased, will be issued a parking tag indicating specific locations.

  • Seniors will receive a Lumberjack Plaid parking tag and are required to park in Lot B.
  • Juniors will receive a Red parking tag and are required to park in the front of Lot A or Lot D.
  • Sophomores will receive a White parking tag and are required to park in the back of Lot A.
  • Wausau Police Department will continue to issue citations for all of East High School.
  • Parking permits will be suspended or revoked if vehicles are located in areas outside of assigned parking.

Wausau East has also enhanced our secure entrance through our completed referendum project. Please  note, all individuals entering East High School during the school day will access the building through the main entrance and are required to “buzz” in for entry. Each visitor will enter directly to the main office and will go through our security protocol which requires a driver's license with a picture. Please know our process is meant to enhance safety and security for our building and we appreciate your patience and support.

Over the course of the school year, please look for events where all East stakeholders are encouraged to attend and become a part of the community within the building. We will be holding celebrations, performances, conferences, open houses, games, and many other events. All are encouraged to attend. Below are a few important dates for August and September.

  • August 8: Schedule Pickup: 8:00 a.m. - 6:30 p.m.
  • August 12: Fear the Beard: 5:00 - 8:00 p.m.
  • August 27: Open House: 5:00 - 7:00 p.m.
  • September 3: First Day of School
    • Freshmen: 7:41 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
    • Sophomores/Juniors/Seniors: 7:41 - 11:00 a.m.
  • September 29 - October 5: Homecoming Week

None of this would be possible without the support of our incredible families and other advocates for our students. Your active involvement, voice, and encouragement are the backbone of our East community. Thank you for being such dedicated partners in your students’ education and for your support of Wausau East High School. I look forward to the many events we have planned throughout the year to have you, our families, and other East advocates into our building to celebrate and learn with us.

We look forward to seeing you all again soon and embarking on another fantastic year together as Wausau East High School Lumberjacks! If you have any questions or need support, please don’t hesitate to contact me.

Lumberjack Pride,
