Dear Lumberjacks,

We're excited to share some positive news and important reminders as we continue to build a strong and supportive community at Wausau East High School.

All of us at Wausau East are proud of the positive culture we're cultivating within our school. Your presence as a family, and our student engagement, is crucial to our school success. One component we are expecting for student engagement is “Bell to Bell, No Cell”. Our philosophy behind “Bell to Bell, No Cell” is to minimize the negative impact of cell phone use during class time. In addition, thank you for continuing to stress the importance of being present daily; attendance is key! As a reminder, our Lumberjacks need to have a 90% attendance in order to attend many upcoming events. Let's keep up the great work and maintain our focus on learning and growth.

We recently received our Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction school report card and Wausau East achieved an overall score of 68.3 which is Meeting Expectations. While this is a solid score, we strive for continuous improvement. Our student dedication and hard work are essential to achieving our goals for continued growth.

In November, we were honored to host Dr. Jill Underly, Wisconsin State Superintendent. Dr. Underly’s visit highlighted the important work being done at Wausau East with regards to mental health. We encourage our students to prioritize their mental health. To support our students and our East staff, organizations like Raise Your Voice are trained to aid students and their mental health needs. If your student or someone you know is struggling with their mental health, please reach out to our school counselors or other resources. Our Lumberjacks’ mental health and well-being are important to all of us.

As winter approaches, please be mindful of winter weather conditions. Remember to dress warmly, drive safely, and allow extra time for travel. With snow covered roads, we always want to err on the side of caution.

We are so impressed with, and proud of, our East students, staff, and Eastside community. Please take a moment to celebrate all our Lumberjacks. Thank you for your hard work, dedication, and positive attitudes that make our school a special place!

Lumberjack Pride,
Luke Barth
